How much do braces cost?

If you are wondering how much braces cost in Toronto, the answer can be different based on a variety of factors. Orthodontics is a worthwhile investment in the long-term health of your smile and confidence. There are many benefits to straightening your teeth. Some of the benefits of straight teeth include teeth that they are easier to clean, are not as prone to damage or wear because of a proper bite, and improved appearance and confidence. Who doesn’t want a beautiful smile that they can be proud of? Instead of investing in repairing your teeth with crowns and veneers in the future because they are breaking down, we like to think of orthodontics as a preventive treatment that can put your teeth into the optimal position, so that they are more likely to be healthy long term.

There are of course, financial considerations when undergoing orthodontic treatment. Here are some guidelines to think about when thinking about the cost of orthodontic treatment in Toronto:

  1. Is your treatment being delivered by an orthodontist or a dentist? Treatment by an orthodontic specialist is usually more expensive than treatment by a general dentist. That is because orthodontists have an additional 2-3 years of specialty training after dental school and spend all of their time straightening teeth with braces and aligners like Invisalign. While treatment may be overall more expensive with an orthodontist, the level of expertise you are receiving is also greater than receiving treatment from someone without the same level of training and experience. If you were having your plumbing repaired in your house, would you want it done by an expert plumber or would you call a general handyman? Most of us would want an expert plumber taking care of plumbing issues in our house. Orthodontic treatment is no different- you want to select an expert who specializes in braces and Invisalign and deliver an excellent result!
  1. What is included in the cost of orthodontic treatment? This is a big one! Make sure that you are aware of ALL of the costs of orthodontic treatment and what is covered before selecting an orthodontic office. For example, does the cost of treatment include the consultation, x-rays, diagnosis and treatment? Does it include retainers at the end of treatment? Does it include emergency or extra visits that may be needed during treatment? At Forest Hill Orthodontics our fee includes every appointment and procedure done at our office, as well as the expertise of three board certified orthodontists delivering your care. There are no hidden costs or fees associated with the treatment. The fee even includes your retainers and a year of follow up appointments so that we can make sure your teeth and smile are stable long term. When selecting an orthodontic office in Toronto, make sure you ask about what is included and any additional (sometimes hidden) fees that you may encounter.
  1. What are the financing terms? At Forest Hill Orthodontics in Toronto we want to make our treatment accessible for our patients. We offer very flexible interest-free in office financing with flexible monthly payments to fit within your budget. For most patients, finding a monthly payment that fits within their budget removes the barrier to treatment. We love working with patients to find a monthly payment that works for them so that they can get the treatment they deserve!
  1. Do they help with insurance? Orthodontic insurance can be difficult to navigate and different insurance companies have different policies on orthodontic coverage. Knowing your insurance coverage beforehand can be helpful in deciding whether or not you want to proceed with treatment or not. At Forest Hill Orthodontics we can help you look into your insurance coverage and explain your benefits in order to help you determined your out of pocket costs.
