Invisalign: Is The Result The Same From One Doctor To The Next?
“I would like Invisalign.” This has become a common statement from patients looking to have straight teeth and an improved bite. Invisalign has become a known orthodontic product in the general public. Invisalign is an excellent tool to achieve the goals of straight teeth and a healthier bite in select cases, however, it is important to know that you are not buying a product, but rather orthodontic treatment from a service provider such as an orthodontist. (Buyer Beware!). Invisalign should be thought of as a tool used to straighten teeth, much like a pair of scissors is a tool used to cut hair by a hairstylist. I’m sure you’ve all experienced the wizardry of one hairstylist as compared to the “what just happened to my hair” from the next. Using this analogy, you can also expect to achieve a different orthodontic result from one orthodontic provider to the next; you want to avoid achieving a result that you are not happy with! The level of experience of the orthodontic provider is what differentiates an excellent orthodontic result to a less-than-optimal result. When you are looking towards achieving an excellent orthodontic treatment result using Invisalign, you should ask the following questions:
- Is the doctor a qualified orthodontist who is skilled in the use of Invisalign?
- Does the doctor have experience in treating all types of orthodontic problems with all types of orthodontic appliances and Invisalign?
- Can the doctor show you similar cases that have been treated?
- Should the Invisalign not perform, what is the doctor’s plan to deliver a high quality result?
