Invisalign

Many adults would like straight teeth but do not want to show braces. Invisalign is an excellent alternative for these patients. Invisalign is a custom made appliance made of medical grade, FDA approved plastic designed to progressively straighten your teeth. These aligners are a clear, effective and comfortable way of moving your teeth. Each tray is slightly different from the one before it, moving your teeth closer and closer to the desired result. Invisalign is an excellent appliance choice for those individuals with higher aesthetic demands. Being removable and clear, they are comfortable and easy to manage.

What is the process like?

If your teeth and bite can be fixed using Invisalign, Forest Hill Orthodontics in Toronto will take a digital scan of your teeth with our iTero 3D scanner. No messy impressions are required! Once the scan is completed, it is uploaded to the Align Technology software. This is the first step in fabricating your custom-made aligners.

How does Invisalign know how to make my teeth straight?

That is where the expertise of your doctor comes in! The Invisalign product is only as effective as the doctor prescribing and directing the treatment. At Forest Hill Orthodontics in Toronto, we are Elite Providers of Invisalign, meaning that we do more Invisalign than most other offices worldwide. We are experts in treating a wide range of complex cases and have vast experience achieving phenomenal results for our patients. Drs. Hendler and Vendittelli take great care in designing your Invisalign treatments in Toronto to ensure that the tooth movements are predictable, comfortable, and effective.

What can I expect once I get my aligners?

Once the doctors approve your trays to be fabricated, you will receive your aligners. For Invisalign to be most effective, the aligners need to be worn 22 hours of the day. You will change your trays based on a schedule customized for you by the doctor, and based on how well the trays are fitting after your first visit back.

Can anyone get Invisalign?

Invisalign is a tool used to move teeth, just like braces. Some movements are more predictable with braces, and some are just as good (or better!) with Invisalign. The doctor can tell you which is the best appliance choice for you, to ensure that you get the result that you deserve. Sometimes we use a combination of both braces and Invisalign in order to achieve our results while respecting the esthetic requests of our patients.

How does Invisalign at Forest Hill Orthodontics compare to Smile Direct Club, or other at home aligner systems?

At home aligner systems are dangerous and can cause significant damage to the teeth and gums, due to the fact that there is no monitoring of the patient during treatment. When you receive Invisalign from Forest Hill Orthodontics, we will ensure that the movements programmed into the aligners are biologically appropriate for your teeth, and we will monitor your response to the movements. We can adjust the speed of your movement and can correct any problems with tooth movement while treatment is ongoing, to ensure the best result. When you “treat yourself” with aligners, you may be moving your teeth too quickly or into an unstable position. This can cause long term damage to your bite, gums or teeth, potentially leading to loss of the teeth or serious gum problems. There is a reason our doctors spent many years in orthodontic residency and many hours in advanced courses learning how to move teeth properly and safely- so they can create amazing, healthy smiles!

Are you sure it works?

Absolutely! At Forest Hill Orthodontics we have treated thousands of patients successfully with Invisalign, including dentists and their children. Many celebrities have had Invisalign such as Oprah Winfrey, Khloe Kardashian and Justin Bieber. You are in good company!
